Installation Steps

Step One

Go to the marketplace and install the Wati WhatsApp Integration for Zoho Crm. You will see a page like this:
Just agree to the terms of service and authorize the extension to process the required data

Step Two

After clicking on “Install”, you will be redirected to a screen where the following variables will be visible:

Please enter your URL and Token in the respective fields.

Step Three

How to Get Your WATI API Token and Endpoint

To integrate WhatsApp features with your application or Zoho CRM using WATI, you’ll need your API Access Token and Endpoint.

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to WATI API Docs
    Open the following URL in your browser:
    👉 https://app.wati.io/api-docs

  2. Log in to Your WATI Account
    Use your credentials to log in to the WATI dashboard.

  3. Locate Access Token & Endpoint

    • You will see:

      • Access Token (Starts with Bearer ey...)

      • API Endpoint (Usually https://app-server.wati.io)

    • Click the Copy button next to each item.

  4. Store in Variables (Best Practice)
    Store the values in environment variables or your code securely:

After installation, a ” Wati Message” button will appear in the Lead and Contact modules.
You can find this button inside each record view.

Step Four

  • Send WhatsApp Message or Wati Template Messages

    1. Open a Record
      Click into any record under Leads or Contacts.

    2. Click “Send Message.”
      You’ll find this button on the record’s detail page.

    3. Choose Messaging Channel
      A pop-up widget will appear with two tabs:

      • WhatsApp

    4. Select WhatsApp Tab
      You now have two messaging options:

      Send a WhatsApp Template Message

      • Choose from your WhatsApp Business pre-approved message templates.

      • Fill in any dynamic fields (like name, appointment date, etc.).

      • Useful for:

        • Welcome messages

        • Template Messages

       

    5. ✍️ Send a Custom WhatsApp Message

      • Write a free-form message manually.

      • Ideal for casual replies or follow-ups with existing customers (within WhatsApp’s 24-hour reply window).

    6. Click “Send”
      Your message will be delivered instantly via the selected channel.

Step Five

  • Step-by-Step: Send a WhatsApp Template Message

    1. Open a Lead or Contact Record
      Navigate to any record under the Leads or Contacts module in Zoho CRM.

    2. Click on “Send WhatsApp WATI Template Message”
      This button is available inside the record view. Clicking it opens the template message popup.

    3. Select a Template
      On the left, you’ll see a list of your approved WhatsApp Business templates. Click any template (e.g., welcome_wati_v2) to open the message preview.

    4. View Template Body Preview
      The right side of the popup shows:

      • Template Name

      • Message Content Preview

      • Any dynamic variables, such as {{name}}, that need to be mapped.

    5. Map Template Variables to CRM Fields
      You’ll see an option like:

      css
      Map {{name}} to CRM Field or enter manually
      • Use the dropdown to select a field from the Zoho CRM record (e.g., First Name, Last Name).

      • Or manually enter a value if not mapped from the CRM.

    6. Click “Send”
      After mapping all required fields, click the green Send button at the bottom right.
      ✅ Your template message will be delivered to the selected WhatsApp number instantly.

Step Six

  • Once you’ve selected your template, mapped the dynamic fields, and clicked the Send button in the WATI WhatsApp messaging popup:


    Confirmation Message

    After sending, you’ll see the following confirmation:

    WhatsApp Message Sent Successfully

    Your WhatsApp message has been sent successfully!
